About Blackpool & The Illuminations
Blackpool, the UK’s most famous seaside resort, has been a beloved holiday destination for over a century. Situated on the Lancashire coast, it offers a mix of traditional seaside charm and modern attractions, making it a perfect getaway for families, couples, and solo travellers alike.
The Blackpool Illuminations, known as the ‘greatest free light show on Earth,’ have been enchanting visitors since 1879. Each year from late summer to early winter, the town transforms into a glittering wonderland, with millions of LED bulbs, lasers, and animated tableaux illuminating the promenade. The display stretches over six miles and features everything from classic fairy tale themes to cutting-edge digital light shows.
Visitors can explore the Illuminations in several ways: walking along the promenade, taking an illuminated tram ride, or even experiencing the Illuminations Tour Bus for a unique view. The display evolves yearly, incorporating new technology and creative designs, ensuring each visit is a fresh and exciting experience.
Beyond the lights, Blackpool offers thrilling attractions, from the towering heights of The Big One rollercoaster to the historic charm of The Grand Theatre. Whether you’re looking for adventure, entertainment, or simply a nostalgic seaside escape, Blackpool has something for everyone.
